Life Lately-February Edition

Hi Sweet Friends! Can you believe another month has already flown by? It's been a month full of birthday celebrations and togetherness for us and I can't think of any better way to spend my month. Other than birthday celebrations, it's been a pretty un-eventful month.

+Life Lately+

- I turned 35 earlier this month. My hubby took me shopping for a new Coach purse and quiet the haul from Bath & Body Works then he bought me a cookie cake, 3 dozen flowers and made me smoked ribs. It was an amazing weekend full of celebrating and coziness. I wouldn't have traded a thing.

- We also celebrated my hubby's birthday (I'm 12 days older) with another low key evening at home.

- I have two collaborations in the works for the blog coming in the next couple months.

- I'm learning how to grow my blog through Pinterest and I fell for InstaStories.

February//Guys Behind the Blog

Hi Sweet Friends! February got away from me, y'all. We call it birthday season because there are nine birthdays in mine and my hubby's family between January & February. One of them is mine and this year it has worn me out. I blame that for the month slipping by and because it did I missed February's Guys Behind the Blog link up with my sweet friend Crystal from Hall Around Texas. It's never too late to post though so get ready for some syrupy sweetness from my hubby because this months questions are all Valentine's and love related.

1 // Name two things your wife has taught you.
Hmmm, Idk. (long silence). You taught me how to save things on Facebook and you taught me how to make cinnamon sugar toast which apparently I have become the master of. (He's so humble, y'all.)

2 // What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
I got to say I Do to my best friend and I got a crazy little doodle.

3 // Valentines Day is usually more about the girl...but tell me, what is something YOU would love to receive on Valentine's day?

*Insert cheesy grin* You usually do good on Valentine's Day. We just get each other silly little things. To me Valentine's Day isn't about the getting, it's about who i'm with, the love of my life.
(Good Grief. Syrupy sweetness over here.)

4 // What was the best date you and your wife ever had?

The first date because we went to O'Charley's (he proceeds to tell everything we ordered) then I took you home and kissed you. Thank goodness you kissed me back because that would have been really awkward.

5 // If money was no option and you could go anywhere in the world with just your spouse, where would you go and what would you do?
I don't know where we would go; probably somewhere tropical and warm and we'd stay somewhere not super fancy because we ain't super fancy people but somewhere really nice. We would have good food, good drinks. We'd take long walks on the beach, helicopter rides, moonlight dinners. Probably rent a convertible and drive around.

Bonus Questions:
6 // Valentine's Day - Hallmark Holiday or Real Holiday?
Little bit of both.

7 // What is your favorite romantic comedy movie?

Idk, there's so many. If I had to pick one; Knocked Up.
Me:That's not a romantic comedy.
A: Think about it. Yes it is. They fall in love at the end.

On Wednesdays We Confess

Hi Sweet Friends! Happy Wednesday! We're half way through the week which also means my days of sleeping in are over for now. My son had another winter break Monday-today so this mama has been enjoying sleeping in and slow, easy mornings but it's back to life tomorrow. So for today let's celebrate with another confessions post with my sweet friend Mistle from Sweet Tea and Hydrangeas

I Confess I'm loving the spring weather we've been having lately. It's already in the 70s here and I couldn't be happier. Yesterday was a rainy day but it was still in the 70's so I had the windows open and the front door. It was amazing!

I Confess I love the smell of rain. It's one of my favorite smells ever. It feels like the earth is getting clean, so refreshing.

I Confess I'm also loving the Swamp Queen palette from Tarte. I'm obsessed. The colors are so vibrant and they really last all day. It's one of the best birthday gifts ever. You can check out my Instagram for my daily make up looks.

I Confess I'm part of the Imperfect Boss Campaign and loving it. It's women inspiring women through our imperfections. Y'all should join the Facebook group and check out all the lovely, inspiring ladies.

I Confess I never really liked boyfriend jeans but lately i'm loving them! I need like 200 pairs. Do you love boyfriend jeans? What's your favorite pair?

I Confess I'm in a state of mind lately where being still is my focus. It's amazing how much better you feel when you learn to just be still. We spent time out on our 5 acres we're about to build on, the other day and it was so refreshing to get some exercise in and to spend time in the quietness of the woods. I'm all about doing things that are relaxing to my mind and body.

I Confess I'm recently obsessed with Pinterest again so follow me and show me all your lovely pins.

Thank you for stopping by. What's something you want to confess?

The Happy List-Kirstie

Hi Sweet Friends! I hope y'all are having a happy Tuesday. I know I sure am because I'm getting to do one of my favorite posts; The Happy List. Today i'm getting the chance to feature Kirstie from Enlightenment for Schmucks so get cozy with us and see what's making Kirstie happy lately.

It’s amazing the strength that practicing gratitude brings to my everyday world. That’s why I jumped at the chance to be part of this amazing group of women who are sharing and caring about all the beautiful aspects of life that make us so happy, centered, and grounded in Spirit. Today I’ve come up with my own Six Serenity-Boosters that make me so thankful to be part of this planet.

My Cats
As a long-standing member of the Crazy Cat Lady Club, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my two feline friends and their step-brother. All three of them are the epitome of unconditional love, playfulness, and that special kind of zen that can only come from sleeping 16 hours a day. They comfort me, wake me up without an alarm, and remind me of the importance of a mid-day catnip (them) and chocolate (me) break to help rejuvenate the Soul.

Our Blog’s Dream Project of the Month Winners
When I started blogging, it was always with the understanding that it was meant to lift us all up together. The amazing talent and the generous spirits of our Dream Project of the Month winners have helped me keep going during challenging times. Being able to create a platform for fellow-dream seekers, no matter how small, is my own dream come true. I’m so appreciative for their inspiration.

My Newest Coffee Mug
I’ve been dealing with some tough issues this past month, and sometimes the littlest things make the biggest difference. The ‘WARNING: I have an Attitude and I know How to use it!” lettering on this mug has helped me remember my own natural hoospah, and has ‘rebooted’ my motivation to keep on keeping on. My dear friend Jen gave me this for my birthday this past August, despite my pleas for her to help me break my coffee mug collecting addiction. Now, I’m so glad that she did. Thank you Jen.

Radical Forgiveness

This deeper twist on forgiveness means we have to forgive everyone of everything. Woo – not an easy task. Yet when I stumbled across this concept last month and began to apply it to my life, it became a super-accelerator for healing the hurts that were threatening to overwhelm me. I’m not only thankful for finding this amazing tool, but I’m also grateful to myself for doing the work to integrate radical forgiveness into my everyday life.

The Internet
Weird to say this, but being 42 years old, I remember a time when connecting with like-minded individuals was so much more challenging. The inspiring women and men I’ve met online who are determined, despite all the challenges, to entrepreneur their way to success has enabled me to do the same. I love the collaborative spirit and the cooperation I find online!

Mother Earth
Sometimes we get so caught up in our own personal lives that we forget about the bigger picture. Lately though, I’ve been remembering to appreciate the beauty of the rain, the astounding colors of a sunset, and the centering stillness that a hike at the park brings into my life. I do my best writing when fresh air flows through my lungs, and the meditative melodies of Mother Nature are a priceless gift that I’m ever appreciative to experience.

Namaste,
Kirstie

Thank you Kirstie for sharing your Happy List with us and thank you loves for checking out Kirstie's post. I hope you all go check out her blog and support her!

Monday Morning Coffee Talk

Hi Sweet Friends! Happy Monday! I know. I know. Why do I keep reminding you that it's Monday? Well, for good reason. Because I want Mondays to be about celebrating a new week. We're all about celebrating a new year so why not celebrate a new week and I think the best way to start that is by having a coffee date with a girlfriend so grab a cup of coffee and get cozy with me for a virtual coffee date this morning.

If you and I were on a coffee date we'd be sitting at a table at my favorite local donut shop. My order there changes frequently but I think i'd be having a white chocolate mocha and a french crueller donut. Easily my favorites and my regular "go tos".

I'd tell you...

Turning 35 has been exhausting. I finally hit a point where I'm having to listen to my body because it's been on the verge of giving out on me lately due to exhaustion. I'm learning that life will go on whether the bed gets made and the laundry gets done because, hello, let's be real-that stuff never goes anywhere.

I'm learning that the best thing I can do for myself is listen when my body is that tired and give into a day of binge watching Gilmore Girls and blogging and indulging in a little treat. It's okay. In fact, taking care of myself is my #1 goal lately because if I can't take care of me then there's no way I can take care of anyone else.

My hubby & I have gone to bed by 9 pm a couple nights in the last week and it has been glorious. Our child is a teenager and he's totally fine with mom and dad going to bed early and it's nice to know that we don't have to worry about him needing us or doing anything stupid. Plus sleep wins.

I try not to think about him being a teenager. I mean, of course I know but if I think too much about it I start to panic. He's talking about driving and joining the military and i'm over here having panic attacks because he's going into high school. If you have a little one right now hold tight to them and soak up every single moment because they really do go by so fast.

I have the sweetest friend in the entire world. She's the friend who did my make up, for free, for my wedding. In fact she even bought me all the make up and gave it to me as a gift. She is one of my people in this world. She bought me the $50 Swamp Queen palette by Tarte for my birthday. She knew I had been wanting it but would never spend that kind of money on myself. Every day since I've used it and been inspired to step out of my comfort zone and play with make up more. I'm kinda obsessed now.

For Valentine's Day I got the craving for a cheesecake so I hopped in my kitchen and whipped one up. Two actually, one was for my parents. I wanted a white chocolate one and couldn't find a suitable recipe so I pieced together a couple that I had and came up with the most delicious cheesecake you've ever tasted. My hubby & I have been enjoying it this week. Today he even said that I had outdone myself so of course i'd have to share that recipe with you. I've made it into a pin able image for our virtual coffee date.

I would tell you that I've developed a fear of the dentist and have a fear of all my teeth falling out. Ridiculous, I know but it's true. Laugh at me all you want but make me mashed potatoes when it happens please.

I have also become obsessed with InstaStories. I feel like it's more fresh than SnapChat but I'm holding on to SnapChat until all my friends convert. Come join me on the Insta side. We have all the pretty things. You can even bring your filters.

Since i've become obsessed with make up i've also become obsessed with You Tube videos so i'd ask who you who are your favorite You Tube beauty queens? I need some more to follow!

I'd also tell you that i'm into Season 4 on the Gilmore Girls and am so happy about one of the recent relationships! I hope, with everything in me, it lasts. I'm not giving away any spoilers in case you are one of the people, like me, who lived under a rock for the last 17 years and are just now catching up on GG! So friends, don't leave any spoilers in the comments. E-mail me @ lesliew21282@gmail.com if you want to talk about this.

I'm also giving up sugar next month. Not totally quitting but cutting way back. I'll still have my morning coffee and my glass of sweet tea at dinner but I feel like cutting back on sugar is going to help me feel so much better. Help me if i'm wrong!

I would tell you how proud I am of my thrifty finds. I went to a thrift shop on Friday. I used to think that thrift shops weren't my thing. Not because i'm above them but because I could never find anything in them but this one was huge and so organized. I walked away with 5 tops and a pair of jeans for $22! They were having a 50% off sale, too which sweetened the deal even more. I'll be back for their next 50% off sale.
This sparkly top is one of the ones I scored. It's a Juicy Couture I paid about $3 for.

As we left I would hug you and tell you I hope you have a lovely day! And I do! I hope you all have a lovely day!
What's something you would share with me on our coffee date?

The Happy List-Melissa

Hi Sweet Friends! I hope you are all enjoying your Valentine's Day with the people you love most. The world of blogging has opened me up to so many new friendships to celebrate and what better way than to feature one of my newest, sweetest blogging friends so get cozy and read all about what's making my sweet friend, Melissa from Primp and Prime Beauty happy lately. While you're at it, be sure to subscribe to her amazing You Tube Channel.

1. Becoming a new mom for a third time. When we welcomed our third son to our family in November, it has just made life so much more enjoyable. The #1 thing in life that I love is being a mom.

2. My other 2 sons. They are the best big brothers to our newest addition, and warm my heart everyday. They make me laugh non stop, but can also drive me nuts and I love it.

3. Coffee & cute coffee mugs. Coffee makes me happy all day everyday lol especially with the sleepless nights I have and early morning wake up times. Coffee mugs have also become a happy addiction b/c I keep finding ones with the cutest sayings on them.

4. My Happy Planners. Keeping my life organized makes me very happy. I love having everything in order.

5. Growing my blog Primp And Prime Beauty. My blog is not only my business, but my passion. I love learning more and more on how to expand it, and all of the opportunities it has been giving me lately.

Thank you Melissa for sharing your happy list. We have so much in common!

Messy Mondays

Hey Sweet Friends! Happy Day! It's Monday and I have a weekend hang over because it was filled with birthday fun. Yesterday was my birthday and my hubby made sure I had an amazing weekend, i'll re-cap that later this week but first, I want to share something that was kinda just laid on my heart.

I've been sitting here on my couch struggling to write a genuine post this morning. I watched an episode of American Housewife (pretty much my life minus two kids). I used my amazon gift card. I have half willingly cleaned the house but mostly I zoned out. As I did, I sat in front of my lap top and just started typing a post out on Facebook. Before I realized it I had written a blog post on Messy Mondays and turning thirty five.

Here's what's on my heart today.

{I took this picture this morning and captioned it on snap chat Monday Morning Mess}

I woke up this morning another year older. 35 y'all! THIRTY FIVE! I've never been one who is afraid of birthdays and growing older because each day i'm alive means it's another blessed day full of love and happiness to share and that sure beats the alternative. However, i've decided that this is going to be the year I focus on my health and really focus on detoxing my mind, body and contacts. I only want to focus on the things that bring me happiness and positivity. I want to nourish friendships that leave me smiling and feeling content after our time together. I want to step outside of my comfort zone and do things that scare me a little bit. I want to get myself in better shape for myself but also for my husband and son; they deserve the best of me. I want to say yes to more adventures and no to letting the mess and clutter of my life and home control me. I want long drives down county roads with the radio singing to me. I want more adventures with my hubby with us singing to each other. More barefoot dances on the back porch and more laughter and memories with my family.

For some reason turning 35 feels different than any other birthday ever has. Maybe it's because I have a husband now and we have big plans for our future. Maybe it's because we have a son who is entering high school soon. Maybe it's because we've been trying to have a baby and haven't yet. I don't know my why yet but I do know that with God and my family and friends beside me then I can do everything I set my mind to. First thing-make dentist appts. I don't know why but this scares the begeezus out of me. It's been a while since i've been. Second thing-i'm going to book a booth at our local craft fair coming up and sell stuff and i'm going to enter the cupcake bake off, too. Third thing-I'm cutting sugar out of my diet starting next month (because there's still cookie cake in my kitchen and my grandma and hubby's birthdays this month, too) because I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I'm ready to take on 35 like a #bosslady!

Let's do this together! What's one thing that scares you that you want to slay this year? I'm here to cheer you on!

I also invite you to share your #messymonday pictures with me on social media every Monday (or any time life is messy and you need someone to remind you that it's okay.) We're not super women or men and we're better than that because we're exactly who God created us to be.

Oh Hey, Friday!

Hey Sweet Friends! We did it! We made it to Friday! I feel like this has been the longest week I've had in a while. Maybe it's because Sunday is my birthday and my sweet husband has a weekend full of fun planned for us but i'm so happy it's finally Friday! Tomorrow morning the festivities begin with a shopping trip to the outlets {Hello Kate Spade. Hello Coach. Hello Bath & Body Works} and Sunday my hubby is cooking ribs. He also ordered me a cookie cake and my parents are coming to our house to celebrate so be on the look out for lots of fun pictures coming to an Instagram near you.

So, to kick off the weekend, I'm here with Oh Hey, Friday with the sweet Karli from September Farm. So get snuggled in and let's talk all things Friday!

Oh Hey, Friday!

1. Fun Fact

I live for birthdays. I adore any reason to eat cupcakes, donuts, and cookies.

2. Good Week/Bad Week

Good Week-I got re-grammed by my affiliate Mieroglyph Apparel

Bad Week-it's not that bad, really but last night I started to panic a little after my son's high school meeting last night. I can't believe in just a few month i'll have a 9th grader and yeah, it freaks me out more than a little.

3. Happy Mail

4. Fave Insta Post

5. Coffee & Blog Posts

The Spotlight! That's right... Features!

These people were extra cool last week... so we're featuring them this week! That means they get a little time in the spotlight...and a cameo on our social media accounts (if you've ever wanted to hangout on my facebook page this is your chance!) Sounds awesome huh?! For your chance to be featured make sure to follow all of your hosts on social media... and leave us a little note so we know you're following!! Just pop over and leave a comment on Facebook (or Twitter, or Instagram... whichever one is your jam!) We look at every single link so we don't miss a beat!

We ain't your Mama... so we don't have a strict rules list. View this more as party etiquette!

1. Be kind! Read and comment on your fellow party goers links!
2. We like to think we're super fancy... we want our guests to feel fancy too so no link-party or affiliate links please!
3. If you want to be featured please follow your hosts on social media... then link back to the party with a text link... or our fabulous button!
4. Link to a specific post... not your home page! We want to see what you've been up to this week!
5. Our mama's taught us to share... that includes the limelight! No more than 3 links per person please!
6. That's it! Have fun and link up your best stuff! We can't wait to see it!
7. Please note that by sharing at Welcome Home Wednesdays, you are giving permission for your projects to be shared on social media and in round up posts on any of the cohosts sites

Want to come back next week? We'll send you a reminder... just put your email in the box!

Thanks so much for Stopping by!

Like any good hosts we're sitting right by the present table waiting until our guests leave so we can go through the loot... the loot being your links! We can't wait to check out what you've left for us. Trust me there will be a lot of pinning, tweeting and facebook sharing going on in the near future... we can't wait to show off what you've left!
