National Tell a Fairy Tale Day

Happy National Tell a Fairy Tale Day, Peachies! We all love a good love story, one where the Princess meets her Prince, they fall in love adopt a puppy and then they become a family of four (because the Bride had a son when they got married). So in honor of this magical day I'm sharing my real life Fairy Tale with you.

My hubby & I met sixteen years ago. He was my best friend for thirteen of those years before we even dated. Everyone says we have such a romantic story because we were best friends for thirteen years before we even dated. He always treated me with respect and never once let on that he liked me in any other way and I was content with that. He was married and I respected that but he was always my go to guy when I was having trouble in other relationships. Life threw us for a curve 3 years and some months ago and brought us to where we are now. Which is pure love and chaos but I wouldn't trade it for anything in the entire universe. We're currently raising a teenage boy together and chasing around a 12 week old puppy all while planning our next move for the future and to be honest, there's no one else I'd rather do life with. He is strong when i am weak, he's calm when I am chaos, he's the one singing Bob Marley's Every Little Thing in my ear when i'm breaking down. He's so much more than my husband. He's the glue that holds me together. He's the sprinkles on my cupcake. Basically he's everything y'all. And since our love story makes many appearances on the blog, here are all the mushy gushy posts.

Our Love Story Parts 1 & 2
From Miss To Mrs.
It's A Love Story, Baby Just Say Yes Pt. 1
It's A Love Story, Baby Just Say Yes Pt. 2
t's A Love Story, Baby Just Say Yes Pt. 3

If i'm being honest here i'm not one to give marriage advice. I've only been married for five months. I definitely don't have it all figured out. I'm not full of knowledge or advice on this topic. Even when my 50 year anniversary rolls around I probably won't be full of advice or knowledge. I hope that I have gained enough experience in this area of life to help my kids along the way but don't be looking for marriage posts on the blog. I feel strongly about marriage. If I got tattoos i'd tattoo my vows on myself somewhere but since I don't, they're inked on my heart for all of eternity.

When the preacher said this verse from the Bible Mark 10:6-9
"But at the beginning of creation God made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.’ So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” I remember taking a long, deep breath in and trying not to let the tears flow. This is what I whole heartedly believe.

Most days I feel like i'm rocking this wife thing & like everything in life, some days, I wonder if i'm doing alright.

Five months ago I stood barefoot in the sand and said "I Do" to my best friend of thirteen years.
Somedays I find myself aching to be back on that beach, completely lost in that moment. I long for that feeling, that moment. The moment when life slowed down and people came from all over to celebrate us. There were no distractions. No work, no phone calls from work, nothing but us. That's the part I miss about the wedding, actually. There were no distractions.

We chose the song You & I (Nobody in the World) by John Legend as our first dance song. I had no idea just how poignant those lyrics would be.

All of the stars you make them shine like they were ours
Ain't nobody in the world but you and I
You and I
Ain't nobody in the world

In that moment it felt as if we truly were the only people on the whole beach.
I was slightly aware of everyone standing around us talking and taking pictures but it felt as if we were in a dream.

The pictures of our first dance are blurry and i'm okay with that. Our professional photographer left with the wedding planners after the ceremony. It was dark and the photos turned out that way. In my opinion, they're perfectly imperfect. Like I try to live my life. In some way I feel like the blurry pictures are indicative of that moment for me. The moment when everything felt like a blur. I truly feel like that moment was one of the most special of my entire life.

And for the rest of my life that moment is tattooed on my heart. I am forever changed by it.
It was the beginning of the next chapter of my fairy tale.

Fairy Tales are true Peachies. Sometimes you have to create them yourselves but if you just believe, they will come true.

Girl Talk

Hi Peachies! Kick off your shoes, pour yourself a glass of sweet tea and get ready to snuggle in for some girl talk today. This post may end up all over the place but I woke up this morning feeling super refreshed and inspired. I did my daily devotional while still snuggled in bed with my sweet Willow girl this morning. It was pure perfection.

It was still dark out, Willow was snuggled next to me, my honey had just left for work & my son wasn't up yet so the house was quiet.
There's something about that time of day I love. Everything is still and quiet, the world isn't quiet awake yet. My mind isn't being flooded with a list of all the things I need to do for the day. It's just me and Jesus. I've learned not to grab my phone before my eyes are even open to check up on Facebook, Snap Chat & Instagram. Instead I savor the moment. I keep my eyes closed and I begin my morning by praying then I grab my phone and check what I missed while I got my beauty rest. This morning I followed my routine but instead of opening Instagram first, I felt the need to open the First 5 app. I needed that quietness to soak in Jesus.

I've been praying that when God sees me starting to do something wrong that he'll stop me in my tracks and point me to Him. It was a devotional last week that really hit home with me. This morning, y'all, I truly believe He stopped me in my tracks and pointed me to Him and it was a game changer. I soaked in every word of the devotional like it was my morning coffee then I felt inspired to do something, really do something, with this devotional.

If you aren't familiar with the First 5 app, at the end of the devotional there is a My Moment question.
Today's question is What instruction is God rewriting on your heart?

My answer is this:
God is rewriting the instructions on being a good wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend on my heart. Over the last couple of years i've let people slip away saying "when we have time, we'll re-connect" or "life is just so busy, I don't have time" or "this relationship works both ways." What i've come to realize is I need to stop the glorification of busy and take control of my relationships. If I want to see someone or talk to someone then I need to make the time to do so. God doesn't wait on us to have time for Him & I want to be the same way! I want to be more intentional with my relationships & loved ones.

Within minutes I had two comments on my post.
I love your phrase: "Stop the glorification of busy and take control of my relationships." Wow!

Leslie, thanks for your words of encouragement! I'm the same way-it's so easy to wait for others to make the plans. I too, am praying for God to help me to be faithful in being more focused on my relationships.

After having my family and closest friends around for a good two months before our wedding, I got used to that and lately i've been missing it.
I miss the time with all of them and mostly I miss my girlfriends. During all of our wedding celebrations I realized who celebrates our life with us. Those are the friends and family we'll never let go of but after the wedding we settled back in to our regular lives. We always say to our friends, "we need to get together" and never do because we say life is just too busy or any other number of excuses that I talk about in My Moment. I'm here today to say I'm stopping the glorification of busy in my life and to be more intentional with my loved ones.

I believe that all relationships are equally as important and sometimes it's hard to balance them all but at the end of it all, who are we without those we love? Those who celebrate us and share in our happiness and joy as well as sadness and sorrow. I believe that's the secret of life. Loving those who love us with every fiber of our being. Making sure that if they had to do life without us tomorrow there would be no doubt in their minds as to how loved they were. And while i'm here on this Earth with them. I'm going to love them so hard. I'm not just going to wait for birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries to celebrate them. I'm going to celebrate them every day of their lives.

This has really been on my heart lately. More time with my mom, more time with my dad, more quality time with my husband, more girlfriend dates. That may mean less time being cozy at home and less time spent diving into my blog and other hobbies. It definitely means less time with my eyes glued to my phone screen when we're together.

Peachies, are you with me?
Let's stop the glorification of busy and spend more time soaking in family and friends!

What's one thing you can do to be more intentional with your family and friends?

Winter Skin Solutions

Hi Peachies! I hope you're all having a wonderful week. The sun is shining and it's warming up here so i'm one happy girl. I've decided that I'm a summer girl for may reasons, one being my skin looks so much better in summer. All winter I've battled super dry, irritated skin mostly on my face. It makes life hard, not just because it looks bad but because it also gets inflamed and hurts. Applying make-up has been difficult. There have been days when I just couldn't but i've found a solution that works under my make up.

Here are my favorite facial products to combat dry skin and help my make up go on more smoothly.

Apricot Kernel Oil
I bought this to use as a carrier oil with my essential oils but it is for dry skin.
It's a natural skin care oil with Vitamin E.
I apply this with a cotton ball after I get out of the shower so it has time to absorb before I put my make up on.

NYX Tea Tree
Tea Tree Oil is really good for the skin, too so this one is really good for dry skin, too.
It's a primer that reduces the look of skin imperfections.
Basically it's a miracle in a green bottle.
I put it on before I get ready to do my make up.

BareMinerals Prime Time
This is my favorite primer of all time.
It's not oily at all. It goes on super smooth and keeps my make up in place.
It's the last thing I apply before doing my make up.

These three products are my daily pre-make up face routine. I'm not sure I can live without them now.
They're my secret to combatting dry, wintery skin and covering the redness and dark circles this season seems to leave me with.
They're my miracles in a bottle.

Birthday Weekend

Hi Peachies! Welcome to Monday. It was supposed to be an icy/rainy/snowy one for us but Georgia failed to deliver again. My son has off school today anyway though so it means that I have the day to do whatever I want. That involves laundry, blogging, coloring & making jewelry. I was going to participate in the 52 week challenge today & I still may but the prompt is Play Chef and I don't have a post ready yet.

We will talk about the weekend though. This weekend was actually fun and we did more than running errands and chilling out at home because Fri-YAY was my birthday!

If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram you saw pics of my weekend but in case you didn't...

FRI-YAY
My hubby worked half day so Willow and I started the day off by sleeping in.

Willow really didn't want to get out of bed.

Awww, Mom. I don't want to get up. #willowsoto #willowthemastiff #mastiffpuppy #mastiffsofinstagram

I started off by having the breakfast of champions.

When my hubby came home from work he brought Chick-fil-A and flowers.

Beautiful flowers from my sweet hubby today! #happybirthdaytome #sweet34 #almostavalentinesbaby

Willow thought the flowers were for her. To eat.

My hubby asked me what I wanted for my birthday. Willow was my Birthday/Valentine's Day present so I really didn't want or expect anything else so I told my hubby all I wanted was a mani/pedi and a nap. Since Willow and I had spent the last two days sleeping in, a nap wasn't needed but the mani/pedi was. More on that in a minute though.

After we ate lunch, my hubby and son gave me more presents.

I already have a Brighton bracelet full of beads and charms so they gave me a necklace to match.

The charms are a wedding cake & a puppy paw since we got married and got a puppy within the last 5 months.

My new Brighton necklace from my loves. #happybirthdaytome #celebratewithsotos #sweet34 #almostavalentinesbaby

After that we went to my Mom and Dad's house where Mom was making me a cheesecake.
She also bought me Chocolate Covered Strawberries.

Thank you for the delicious strawberries mama. #happybirthdaytome #celebratewithsotos #sweet34 #almostavalentinesbaby

Willow got some Happy Mail while we were there.
Apparently I haven't changed my address on my Etsy account since I got married.
Oops but that's okay, Willow doesn't mind where her gifts get sent to, as long as she gets them.

My Sweet Willow got some happy mail today. #willowthemastiff #mastiffpuppy #willowsoto

Then we ordered dinner from O'Charley's and took it home to eat.

Saturday
morning I got up and had another Insta worthy breakfast.

I got to run to my favorite new boutique in town and spend my birthday money.

Then it was mani/pedi day.
I got to go spend some quality me time with a good friend I haven't seen in quiet a while.
We laughed, we had a heart to heart and we even teared up a bit.

Fresh pedi. #lesliessparkofhappiness #lesliessparkofhappiness

After that we took Willow to my Mom and Dad's.
They puppy sat while we went and saw the new Star Wars movie.
I'll admit that I'm no Star Wars fan.
I didn't even know what was going on half the time and I had a million
and one questions for my guys on the way home from the movie.
I thought it was a good movie and maybe, just maybe
it might be making me a Star Wars fan after all.

Sunday was Valentine's Day and here's my Instagram post to sum it up.

We didn't do anything special.
My honey & I spent the morning snuggled in bed with Willow, exchanging gifts.
We weren't going to get each other anything but I know my hubby too well
to know he wasn't going to hold to that so I came prepared with a gift, too.

Valentine's Day goodies. #valentinesday2016 #celebratewithsotos

Then we spent the day running errands and making chili and ended our weekend watching The Walking Dead.

How was your weekend? What did you get for Valentine's Day?

Happy Birthday.

Hey Peachies! Today is a very special day! Thirty Four years ago today a baby girl came into this world and changed lives everywhere. She was full of blonde hair and spunk and the only thing that has changed in 34 years is that she has brown hair. She's still full of spunk and attitude. She's the queen eye roller and champion of naps. She loves hard and has a heart of gold. She's feisty and sweet and just wants to love Jesus, drink coffee and save all the animals.

This girl is me!

My husband and my mom asked me what I want to do to celebrate my birthday. My only response was that I want a mani/pedi and to stay home and relax. My hubby is getting off at one today and we're going to see my parents then we're ordering dinner from O'Charley's, bringing it home and spending the evening hanging out with our human child and our fur baby. In all honesty, that sounds like the perfect evening to me! My mom is baking me a cheesecake and she may cook dinner for us all tomorrow night. Tomorrow i'll probably go get that mani/pedi.

I like to drag my birthdays out but the older I get, the less they become about going out partying. They become more about taking the time to relax and spend time with those whom I love the most.

Here's how my morning has been so far.

Awww, Mom. I don't want to get up. #willowsoto #willowthemastiff #mastiffpuppy #mastiffsofinstagram

My morning has been pretty incredible so far. Of course my day will only be getting better but it's pretty hard to be sad when you're this blessed. My facebook page has been blowing up with birthday wishes and continues to do so as we speak.

P.S.-That sweet puppy face. She is my Birthday/Valentine's present from my hubby.

So, y'all already know that i'm spending my birthday exactly how I want to but here's my dream birthday scenario.

1. Wake up in the Marriott in Kauai by my sweet hubby and enjoying an amazing breakfast in bed. Fruit, croissants, and Kauai coffee.

(Somehow all my family, friends, and even our Willow would be here in Kauai with us)

2. Spend the day walking on the beach, playing in the sand, and the sunshine with only our family and friends and puppies.

3. Get dressed around 3 and go shopping in the cute little towns we visited on our honeymoon (dogs and all) And since this is my fantasy
and money is no big thing, we'd buy everything we wanted. Every. Little. Thing.

4. We'd go on a sunset hot air balloon ride over the island. So romantic, right?

5. Then we'd go to a Luau for dinner.

6. After dinner my husband would hand me a small box. Inside would be the key to our new Hawaiian beach home.
One of those big beautiful ones we saw that were less than a block away from the beach. One that celebrities probably live in.

7. Then we'd live happily ever after on the island of Kauai, surrounded by our family and friends.
I'd Blog, Snap and Instagram my incredible pictures everyday!

That's my ultimate birthday dream!!!

What's your ultimate birthday dream?

National Days-February

Hi Peachies! I'm struggling big time today but i'm finally here. Late is better than never? Right? Today is February 6th! What? How did that happen? I'm pretty much on the crazy train today, broken down in Struggle Town but do not fear! I'm going to make the most of Struggle Town while i'm here.

Today I thought of another fun post to add to the beginning of the month so let's talk about what National Holidays there are this month and how those National Holidays should mean an extra day of sleeping in and spending the rest of the day in yoga pants binge watching Netflix and coloring in our adult coloring books. Sounds like a plan? Yes, please?!?

When I think of National Holidays I think of just that, sleeping in and spending the rest of the day being a bum. In the summer that means being a bum at my parent's pool. The rest of the year it means being a bum in my yoga pants binge watching Netflix and all that. National holidays usually involve really good food, friends and family, and wine/beer/margaritas. Regardless of what National Holidays look like to you, I think we can all use a little more celebrating in our lives everyday. So here is a list of my favorite National Holidays in February.

February 1
Freedom from Slavery Day
Baked Alaska Day

February 2
Groundhog Day- And i'll say this. I could give that groundhog a giant hug right now
for saying that spring is coming early. I love you (this year) groundhog.

February 3
Carrot Cake Day

February 4
Homemade Soup Day

February 5
Wear Red Day

It's also shower with a friend day
(that one could be weird)

February 6
Frozen Yogurt Day

February 7
Send a Card to a Friend Day
Fettuccini Day

February 8
Kite Flying Day

February 9
Pizza Day

February 10
Umbrella Day
Cream Cheese Brownie Day

February 11
Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk Day
Make a Friend Day
Wear a White Shirt Day
Peppermint Patty Day

February 12
National Celebrate Leslie's Birthday Day!!!
I'll be posting my wish list very soon!!!

February 13
Tortellini Day

February 14
Organ Donor Day
Ferris Wheel Day
Cream-Filled Chocolates Day
Valentines Day

February 15
Singles Awareness Day

February 16
Do A Grouch A Favor Day

February 17
Random Acts Of Kindness Day

February 18
Drink Wine Day
(I'll definitely partake in this one!!

February 19
Lash Day (Hello 3D Fiber Lashes)
Mint Day
Caregivers Day

February 20
Cheery Pie Day
Love Your Pet Day (I don't need a National day for that!)

February 21
Sticky Bun Day

February 22
Margarita Day
Cook A Sweet Potato Day

February 23
Banana Bread Day
Dog Biscuit Day

February 24
Tortilla Chip Day

February 25
Chocolate Covered Nut Day
Chili Day

February 26
Tell A Fairy Tale Day

February 27
Kahlua Day
Strawberry Day
Polar Bear Day

February 28
Public Sleeping Day
Chocolate Souffle Day
Floral Design Day
Tooth Fairy Day

February 29
Rare Disease Day
(this one is no joke, folks. I do feel like it needs to be listed though so we can be aware of these horrible diseases.)

You can also call February the National Month of Meal Plans. I think mine has been planned through this. Cue the extra 15 lbs.

What National Holidays are you looking forward to celebrating this month?

February Goals

Hi Peachies! Happy Wednesday. Can I just say how glad I am that this week is almost over? I mean, we're half way there (Bon Jovi's Living On A Prayer just popped in my head.) Anyway, i'm choosing to see this week half over as a cup half full kinda thing even though this week has been a week from you know where. I'm pretty sure The Devil Came Down To Georgia this week and he's trying really hard to cozy up with me but I ain't got time for that!

Today i'm spending this rainy day snuggled up on my couch, in pajamas and my favorite blanket, drinking all the coffee and hiding from my own crazy life. Tomorrow i'll put on my big girl panties and deal with it all but today, I'm finally able to tackle my "to-do" list and make my post about my February Goals.

Maybe my February Goals should start out like this...

1. Schedule next month's goals post at the end of this month so they go live on March 1.

2. Find a family practitioner and possibly a dermatologist.

3. Make an eye appt for my son.

4. Make a batch of goodies for family & friends. Just because.

5. Have the family over at least once for dinner.

6. Wash all the windows (inside and out) downstairs.

7. Write at least 3 blog posts per week.

8. Finish reading Yes Please.

9. Yoga and Cize 5 days a week.

10. Go walking when it's not flooding (today is not a good day to start this goal.)

11. Spend Sunday ironing A's work clothes and making Dylan lunches for school.

12. Eat out less.

13. Don't spend $ on un-necessary things (make-up, nail polish.)

14. Use the new social media icons I bought for my blog.

15. Make a button for my blog.

16. Figure out how to add Disqus to my blog.

17. Order our Hawaiian Honeymoon memory book from Shutterfly.

18. Make at least 6 new pieces of jewelry to sell.

I think these are all attainable goals for the month. Here's to putting on my Wonder Woman cape and getting them all done!

What are some of your goals for this month?
How do you get them all done?

Hopelessly Devoted To You

Hi Peachies! Grease was the word last night with #GreaseLive blowing up feeds everywhere. I'm a die hard Grease fan and have been looking forward to this night since the announcement was made that they would be doing a Grease Live special. I used to dream of growing up in that time and being a Pink Lady. I wanted to be Sandy. Pure, sweet, hopelessly romantic, and attracted to the bad boy. In the end she changed him and he changed her and they lived happily ever after.

Then I went through a period of wanting to be like Frenchie. She was a high schooler who was chasing her dreams and rocking pink hair light years before it was cool. I wanted pink hair like her and my own guardian angel who would come down and sing to me in those moments of indecision. Frenchie didn't need anyone's approval.

In my adult years I want to be Rizzo. Not because she was the school tramp but because she really didn't need anyone's approval. She was totally prepared to be a single mom. I can relate! Rizzo has that true #girlboss attitude and I love that! So through the years of my obsession with Grease, i've related to the three main Pink Ladies.

So anyway, back to the Grease Live chat. Last night my mom texted me at 7, while my husband, son and I were finishing up dinner to tell me that Grease Live was on and she was taping it if I wanted to watch it. WHAT?!? I thought it came on at 8. I was bummed. I was already missing it but my hubby and sweet son sent me upstairs to the bedroom to watching it while they cleaned up from dinner then spent the next 3 hours playing Call of Duty & letting me have my moment. Every commercial break that came on I was running around the house emptying bathroom trash cans and making my son's lunch for school today. Every commercial break they fussed at me to sit down and watch my show. I've only been talking about it for a month. They knew how excited I was for it. Towards the end, my son would run in the bedroom and sing and dance. Even though his 13 year old self will not admit this now, he used to love to watch Grease with me. Last night was proof that Grease is still in his blood.

Usually I get irked when they want to remake one of my favorite movies. I think they should just leave a wonderful thing alone but #GreaseLive did not (totally) disappoint.

1. I thought Julianne Hough rocked it as Sandy. It's a hard role to win me over in because Sandy will always be Olivia Newton John & Danny will forever be John Travolta. Julianne won me over though. However, the guy who played Danny did not. John Travolta forever!

2. Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo. I'm sorry. There will never be another Rizzo. Stockard Channing forever! I do give Vanessa a TON of credit though. Her dad just died the night before this performance and yet she went on without skipping a beat. That alone wins her some Rizzo points in my book.

3. In the original movie Danny is way hotter than Zuko. In Grease Live that was the opposite. Sorry, I know everyone was swooning over Danny.

4. The carnival was held inside a gym! What? Noooo....

5. Mario Lopez as Vince Fontaine. Yes Please?!?

6. The horrible sound issues during Hopelessy Devoted! Noooo!!! It was the cry hear 'round the internet.
My mom even texted me this...

7. Boys II Men as Frenchie's Guardian Angel? The 90's girl in me loved it! I wondered how they'd pull that off without Casey Kasem.

8. And of course...an appearance by Didi Conn left me with all the feels.

9. A race scene on stage?!? That one still has me wondering How?

10. And when Sandy comes in dressed in that black spandex suit and says to Danny "Tell me about it, stud."
#workout goals #relationshipgoals

Overall I loved it and I'll always be Hopelessly Devoted to Grease.

Did you watch? What was your favorite part?
