My OCD Habits

Hi Peachies! Are y'all ready to hear some of my deepest secrets. The things I obsess over. Things that drive me crazy and sometimes even make me turn my car around and go home to check on that "thing"?

Are you ready to hear all about
My OCD Habits

I'm more than a little OCD about some things. There are things that flat out drive me insane if they aren't done and then there are some things that I'm ODC about simply because I've been forgetful about them too often in the past.

Let Me Explain

+ My counters have to be wiped down. I wipe them down several times a day with Clorox Wipes and just a wet wash rag.
I can't stand to have dirty/sticky counter tops.

+ My curling iron/flat iron being unplugged. This is one I've forgotten about a few too many times.
I've even turned the car around to check.
Now I'll check it two or three times before I leave just to be sure.

+ My clothes have to be organized in my closet by type and in a particular order. From back to front it's jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, long sleeve shirts, 3/4 sleeved shirts, tee shirts, tanks, dresses, capris, jeans. And each of those has to be organized by favorites. Favorites are closest to the front.

+ My shoes have to be matched up and lined up in my closet, too.

+ I like balance when it comes to decorating. If I have something on the right side of the shelf, there has to be something similar on the left side, too.

+ When I'm locking up my house I have to check, at least twice, to make sure I really did lock the door. Sometimes I have to run back in and make sure I locked the back door, too.

+ Sometimes I count my steps in my head (Yes, I even have a fit bit).

+ If I can't sleep I add all the numbers of the time together & keep adding them until I come to a single digit.
(You really get to sleep fast this way). Sometimes I even add all the numbers on someone's mail box until I find that one digit.

+ At each store I visit often, I have a certain pattern I walk and shop.

I don't think my OCD habits are too out there, except maybe the one about all my clothes in my closet. That one might be borderline insanity but I love organization to the extreme and that's the only space I truly can control. No one else adds chaos and clutter to my closet so it's my little piece of organized Heaven.

What are some of your OCD Habits? Do we share any of the same ones?

Week 25: Currently

Hello Peachies! Happy Monday. Fresh week fresh start, right? I hope you're all feeling as refreshed and relaxed and ready to take on the week as I am. Of course that is requiring some coffee and planning this morning.

It's time for the 52 Week Challenge with Sarah from Sarah Emily Blogs and Ashley from Girl Talk.

Let's talk about my Currently

Sitting on my couch in my favorite sweat pants, coffee in hand.
Looking through cookbooks and Pinterest for recipes and dinner inspiration for this week.
Making lists of what I need at each store.

And, oh! Look at this pretty pin I saved. Because i'm distracted easily like that.
Now i'm sitting here with three lists made + my meal plan for the week and a window open on backdrop ideas for blog photos + my blog window.

Drink more coffee! Do more stuff!

Now i'm off to change the laundry over and get ready to run errands.
Target anyone?

Happy Monday Lovelies!

Week 24: 3 Cities You Want To Visit

Happy Monday Peachies! I hope you're all refreshed and relaxed from the weekend. I just love weekends. I love the down time and the family time we get to spend together. Life slows down and we really get to enjoy ourselves. This weekend involved a lot of cooking out and swimming for us. It was really enjoyable. Now that it's Monday it's time for the 52 Week Challenge with Sarah from Sarah Emily Blogs and Ashley from Girl Talk.

Today's topic is 3 Cities You Want To Visit
There are so many for me but these are my top 3, currently.

1. Nashville, Tennessee
Music city! Yes, please?!? I'm a southern girl through and through, country music is my jam.
As my husband says-I'm a little bit country, he's a little bit rock and roll.
What's to love about Nashville?
+The Bluebird Cafe
+Hattie B's Hot Chicken
+Country Music Hall of Fame
+Draper James (Reese Witherspoon's Boutique)

I might even be able to talk my husband into this trip with a visit to the Johnny Cash Museum and the Jack Daniels Distillery.

2. Waco, Texas
Yes this might have this has everything to do with Chip & Joanna.
Don't judge me. You know you want to go too.
What's to love about Waco?
+Magnolia Market
+World's Longest Lazy River
+Dr. Pepper Museum

Okay, so this one really is all about Chip & Joanna but I have blogger friends who live in the area. So there's that!

3. New Orleans, Louisiana
What's to love about New Orleans?
+Cafe DuMonde's beignets
+French Quarter
+Swamp Boat Tours
+Gumbo
+Jackson Street-the history and architecture. Yes, Please?!?

My hubby was born in Louisiana so I have no doubt we'll be back someday.

Those are my top 3 cities I want to visit inside the US. There are so many places I'd love to travel to and wonders i'd love to see.
Niagra falls, the Northern lights, Santorini Greece, Fiji, Rio De Janiero Brazil and of course, you'd have no trouble at all getting me back to Hawaii. I'd be on the next plane out of here if someone offered me a trip to Hawaii.

Week 23: What Blogging Has Taught Me

Hello Peachies! Happy Monday. You know what Monday's mean. It's time for the 52 Week Challenge with Sarah from Sarah Emily Blogs and Ashley from Girl Talk.

Today we're talking about What Blogging Has Taught Me.

I started blogging before it was the in thing to do because I wanted to document the important moments in mine and my son's lives. We have family that lives out of state and I thought that was a good way to keep up with them, too. In May of 2013 I was inspired to take my blog to a new level and start networking with other bloggers. I had no idea how to do it, I just had a wish and a dream and I chased it. I re-vamped my blog and set out into the blogging world. Instagram and talking with other bloggers led me to numerous Facebook groups and from there I am making my blogging tribe and blooming with my blog.

What i've learned from blogging is:

+ The look of your blog is important.
I went from using pre-made blogs (which is fine) to making my own designs because I want to learn how to.
I like nice, clean coherent looks with pops of color.

+ Pop ups annoy everyone.
And I will never have them.

+ It's okay not to have a niche.
I'll probably never have a niche because I don't focus solely on one thing.
I'm a lifestyle blogger. That's pretty all encompassing.

+ Blogging requires a lot of time.
It's not just sit down and type out some words, hit publish, and boom! You're done.
It's hours of writing, researching, snapping pictures, creating headers, etc.

+ Having a week's worth of posts ready to go on Sunday and scheduling them to be published through out the week is a dream in my world.
In a dream world, I'd love to be able to do things like that. It's just not how I roll though.

+ Using a planner is a lifesaver in the blogging world.
I winged it through May because I had so much going on and was so inspired but on those days when I'm not feeling it, It's nice to pick up my planner and look at what I have planned.

+ The best way to learn is through other bloggers.
They've been through it, they've figured it out so they know what they're talking about.

+ Join Facebook groups because that's where you get exposure for your blog.
And you can engage with other bloggers, too!

+ Find your blogging tribe and lift each other up. My blogging tribe is amazing.
Sometimes I feel closer to them than I do real life friends. They just get me.

+ Quality over quantity.
Creating good content is better than having posts 7 days a week.

+ Blog about what's important to you.
Your blog should be a genuine reflection of you so share your most genuine self with others.
Sometimes that even means sharing the messy, crazy things.
Being real with your readers will keep them coming back because they'll feel a connection with you when they can read something and think
"Oh, good! Me, too!" OR "Yes! I like, that, too!"

Sarah, from Sarah Emily Blogs and I have had many of those moments. We swear we're long lost sisters because we're so much alike, even the bad stuff.

Don't be afraid to show the bad stuff. You might help someone else through a tough time or you just might bond and make a new friend over it!

+ Interact with your readers.
When you get comments, comment back!

+ Pay attention to your analytics. See how many re-pins you get, how many comments because that's how you gage what your readers enjoy.
And give them more of that and less of the things that don't bring you as much traffic.

+ Never blog for free. I made this mistake a couple times because I felt like I was getting good exposure but in reality, I wasn't.
I was still the only one promoting my posts and doing all the work.
One company even nit picked my post to death and asked me to change it three times! Needless to say, that's when I realized I was being taken advantage of and won't make that mistake again.

I still have a lot to learn in the blogging world and my blog doesn't look perfect.
That's why I join as many groups as I can, I ask for help and advice when I need it and I take webinars.
I'm not blogging for profit yet but i'm in the middle of learning how to make social media kits and how to pitch ideas to companies.
I'm also learning about collaborations and affiliate programs.
It's always a learning experience but I feel like any good thing always will be.

I still have a couple wedding pics, that gorgeous sunset pic from our wedding, and tons of screen shots left though.
Oh, and pics for blog posts, too.

There's nothing super exciting about my phone but I think you can tell a lot about a person's personality by what's on their phone. Hopefully you get nothing but happiness and good vibes from what's on mine.

Week 21: Bad Habits of Mine

Hi my beautiful Peachies! How is everyone today? I'm incredibly awesome because today is the official first day of summer break for us. I slept in TWO whole hours this morning. My son is still sleeping in and Willow pup is asleep in her Daddy's chair on the other side of the living room.
Plus, when I got out of bed this morning I realized that my house isn't nearly as big of a mess as it usually is on Monday mornings.
It's a Monday Miracle!

You know what else is awesome about Mondays? This super fun link up with one of my blogger besties, Sarah from Sarah Emily Blogs and Ashley from Girl Talk.

Welcome to {Week 21:Bad Habits of Mine}

1. Rolling my eyes and heavy sighing.
Ya'll, I think I was just born this way. I find that I roll my eyes and sigh a ton. I can't help it and I can't control it. It just happens. Even when someone is asking me something that I don't mind, I do it. Luckily everyone close to me has learned to accept it. Love y'all. Mean it.

2. Cracking my knuckles.
Again, can't help it. It's a habit I started forever ago and continue doing. I know it isn't good for me but we all have our vices.
Cracking knuckles is mine.

3. Cleaning.
Yes, this can be a bad habit when you do as I do. I'm notorious for cleaning up people's glasses they are drinking out of. If it's left unattended and I see it, odds are, i'll clean it up. I've also been known to misplace my husband's things before while cleaning the house and forgetting where I put them. Ooops.

4. Painting over existing nail polish.
Because sometimes I don't want to take the polish off and start over but I don't want chips in my nails either.

5. Falling asleep during movies.
I'm not kidding when I say my hubby and I have probably watched 6 movies together in our four years of being together.
I sit down to watch a movie and that's all she wrote. Even if it's a movie that I really want to see.

6. Wanting everything in my house in its place and spotless.
This is something i've really been working on this year and I feel like i'm making huge progress. On the weekends I do no cleaning, other than the kitchen and maybe a load of clothes. I will not ever be okay with food and dirty dishes left out but i'm taking more time to enjoy being with my loved ones and having adventures than focusing on cleaning house. I realize my house will never look like something out of Southern Living Magazine and i'm okay with that. If you come to my house you may have to over look the dust and the dog nose prints on everything but I promise, you'll laugh and make memories here and more likely than not, eat a ton of good food.

7. Not asking for help.
The Good Lord knows this is my downfall and he sent me my husband to help break me of this.
A typical evening at our house goes like this.
Me in the kitchen cooking, my hubby just coming in from a long day at work.
Honey: Hey Love, Do you need any help?
Me: rolling my eyes. No, babe. I've got it.
Honey comes in the kitchen, looks and me and says "what can I help you with?"
Sometimes he even takes what i'm doing away from me because he knows I need help, I just won't ask.

And with that comes #8.

8. I'm stubborn to a fault.

So there you have it. Some of my bad habits. I'm not a nail biter, i'm not addicted to anything. Not a shopaholic.
Just a modern day June Cleaver want to be with Lucille Ball antics thrown in and I cuss a little, too.

Week 19: Most Embarrassing Story

Happy Monday Loves! I hope you all had a lovely weekend and a wonderful Mother's Day. I know I did. I'd give you the run down but it's exhausting. But seriously, we spent a ton of time outside with family this weekend because it was in the 80's and sunny.

Mother's Day was a huge blessing. I got to soak in time snuggling with my hubby then was showered with gifts from my loves and both sides of our family. Later today i'm treating myself to a post Mother's Day mani/pedi but first, it's time for week 19 of the 52 Week Challenge with one of my blogger besties, Sarah from Sarah Emily Blogs and Ashley from Girl Talk.

I love starting the week off this way. It's a great way to get my mind going on a Monday morning.

Today's prompt is {Week 19: Most Embarrassing Story.}

This is one that my hubby and I laugh about now but it wasn't really funny to me at the time.

*Just a little backstory, in case you're new here. My hubby & I were best friends for 13 years before we started dating. So we were super comfortable with each other.*

We hadn't been dating long, at all. (Maybe just a couple weeks.) We were sitting in my room one night, hanging out (purely innocent, ya'll!) and talking but in my heart I already knew he was the one. We had taken this huge jump from just friends to boyfriend and girlfriend and nothing had ever felt so right before. So we were sitting there talking, when before I knew what happened I blurted out "I love you" then immediately wanted to crawl under the bed and die. I must have turned 50 shades of red when it happened because I really was that embarrassed. In my mind, it felt like an eternity before he responded. I was sitting there thinking "What if he doesn't feel the same?" "What if I just ruined my best friendship?" "Can I just die now?"

Finally he responded with "I love you, too." I was so relieved but insanely embarrassed. He was trying so hard to be a respectful gentleman even though we had been friends for so long. I guess that's what happens when you're so relaxed and comfortable with one another. You just blurt things out and hope and pray that they feel the same way, too. Lucky for me, he did then and still does now. We've been together 4 years and married for 7 months.

And now you know who said "I Love You" first.
At least my embarrassing story does have a happily ever after.
And they say Fairy Tales aren't real!
All you need is a big mouth Southern girl and a proper Southern gentleman to make this story come to life.

What's your most embarrassing story?

Week 16: You May Not Know

Hi Peachies! Happy Monday! It's one of my favorite blogging days because of this awesome 52 Week Challenge
with one of my blogger besties, Sarah from Sarah Emily Blogs and
Ashley from Girl Talk.
This link up is such a fun way to start the week off.

Today's prompt is {Week 16: You May Not Know.}

+ If I find a piece of clothing I love I have to buy it in every color!
I have 6 Target tee's//same style/different colors!

+ I'm pretty quiet in big groups. I used to be painfully shy, even through high school.

+ I have serious 'Dog Mom' guilt. I feel awful for getting on to her and even worse when
I have to leave her in her crate while I'm out of the house. Proof that dogs are people, too!

+ My blog will never have a niche and my Instagram will never have a perfect aesthetic.
Both of these places are reflections of my real life!

+ I'm obsessed with quaint, little old towns.
You know, the historic downtown areas of these towns filled with
adorable homes, cute boutiques, and little cafes and coffee shops.

+ I'm obsessed with lip products and nail polishes.
I can't go into a store without buying these things.

+ I always fear that I haven't un-plugged my curling iron or hot iron.
I've even turned around and gone home just to double check.

+ I love going to my favorite websites and filling my shopping basket full of the items I want.
I don't buy it. I just want to see how much my wish list costs!

+ I have an un-canny fear of lizards and frogs.

+ I'm a sucker for fairs and festivals. Especially the ones that sell handmade crafty pretties.

+ When i'm feeling sad Target is my "go-to" happy place.
Once I get inside i'm instantly happy.

+ My hubby says my idea of "roughing it" is dirty sheets and no coffee creamer. And he isn't wrong!

+ I love having my family together in our Jeep,
packed full of bags and headed out on a road trip.
It's hours of endless conversations and laughter.

+ I love peach flavored and scented everything but don't eat peaches unless they're cooked into something.

Since this is all about things you may not know about me...ask me a question. Anything at all and i'll answer!

Week 12-Be The Change

Good Day Peachies! At least I hope that's what you're having. I hope you aren't aboard the Struggle Bus like I am today. If so Hi! Come take a seat next to me. It's 1:45 in the afternoon on Monday and i'm just sitting down to write this mess of a post out. Thank goodness it's a prompted post or it might not even be happening.

This morning started out like dream. I went to sleep last night with a feeling of content and sheer happiness after spending the day at my parent's house cooking out and laughing until our faces hurt with my family. Of course we didn't take pictures, not a single one but the day was amazing. I'm really glad my husband & I threw together an impromptu Easter celebration. This morning the feeling carried on. I woke up earlier than usual, laid in the darkness and prayed that Jesus would watch over and bless all of my family and friends then I asked Him to lead me closer to Him today. If He saw me about to do something that He would not be proud of that He would stop me in my tracks and point me right back to Him. {He did just that-more on it in a minute.}

After I said my prayers I grabbed my phone and opened up my First 5 app and read today's daily devotional.
The message was this "The sacred vow God made you is binding Forever. He will never make a promise and not fulfill it."

I was feeling so inspired and ready to take on the day so I left the dog in the bed, awakened my son & went downstairs to make coffee and my son's lunch for the day. I was enjoying the moment, taking in the quietness and the darkness before the hustle of the day began. God was really speaking to my heart so I turned on my favorite song Love and Laundry by Point of Grace and just let the sweet music play as I began my day.

My morning was off to an amazing start! I thought I was winning at this whole Monday thing but it wasn't too much longer later when I had to stop and simply ask Lord, what are you trying to teach me?

The dog had zero interest in going with me to take her boy to school (she goes almost everyday) so I took advantage of the opportunity and decided i'd take him to school then go to the store & come home and spend the rest of the day cleaning, posting my blog post, & getting dinner ready for tonight. Typical Monday stuff. So I put on a cute enough outfit & enough make up to look like I was making an effort today & headed out to begin to tackle my plans for the day.

I got my son to school and ran to Target and Publix. That went off without a hitch. I was soaking in the sunshine and the pleasant people I had encountered-then it happened.

{Here's where I had to ask the Lord what was He trying to teach me today?} AND *Spoiler Alert {He stopped me in my tracks and made me focus on Him and what's most important.}

As I get in the car to leave Publix and head home I see a message from my son. "Mom, Can you please being me my agenda? If not, it's okay." At this point I usually would be freaking out a little because I have groceries to un-load, a mountain of laundry to do, dinner to prepare, a blog post to write & post. Oh, and I want to put my new Swiffer to good use. Not to mention, The puppy is at home in her crate-she hasn't been outside to potty nor has she eaten or had her meds today. Oh, & me?!? I still haven't showered.

Instead, i'm sitting here on my steps in the hall, watching the dog chew her bone-why am I doing this and not the million other things that I need to do? Because I need to share this with you. Life isn't always pretty & calm-even mine but you can choose to let chaos control you or you can find peace in the situation. The Lord made me stop what I thought was important and focus on what mattered most.

Kind of funny that this ties in with today's blog post prompt, "Be the change you wish to see." The change I wish to see is in myself. It's quieting the chaos & finding peace. It's in being the kind of Mom whose son knows she has his back. It's in changing my plans to be there for someone else. It's all these things b/c they matter more than laundry & cleaning & running whatever mundane errands that need to be done.
I prayed this morning that the Lord would show me His way today. That he would stop me in my tracks if His plans didn't match up to my own. Willow and I took our boy his agenda then we went for a walk at the park next door to the school. We're home now and very little on my to do list for the day has been tackled but that's okay. I asked God to stop me in my tracks and point me to Him if necessary and guess what? He did.

The thing is that no matter how planned out we have our lives something is always going to happen to throw us a curve ball. Sometimes we may even strike out. It's life, it's how we grow and learn. The change I wish to see is for everyone to be more accepting of those times. Be gentler on yourselves. Be kinder than necessary to yourself and everyone around you. Take time to stop in the midst of the chaos and calm the storm. Be kinder than necessary to everyone you meet because everyone is going through something you can't see. I'm telling you all this so you can see-I'm trying to be the example of the change I wish to see in the world. I wish to live in a world where we are more forgiving and accepting. A world where we realize were not always in control and that's okay. A world where everyone's lives matter. A less cruel world.
This is the change I wish to see in the world and I believe that change starts from within.

Week 11-Favorite T.V. Shows

Hi Peachies! Happy Monday. I know Mondays are no fun but this 52 week challenge with Sarah from Sarah Emily Blogs makes Mondays so much more fun! I look forward to Mondays for this very reason.

Today's Blogger Challenge is Favorite T.V. shows.
I'm not a huge t.v. person but I definitely have my favorite shows.

Lip Sync Battle
My favorites are Jenna Dewan Tatum vs her hubby, Channing Tatum and Kaley Cucoco vs Josh Gad. It's hilarious and thoughtless fun.

Fixer Upper
First of all Chip & Joanna are a dynamic duo. So hilarious together and you can tell they are truly in love and respect one another.
Second of all, can they find me a house and demo/decorate it? Please?

I Love Kellie Pickler
I'm a southern girl so of course I love Kellie Pickler. I fell in love with her bubbly personality on American Idol and haven't stopped since.
She and her hubby are quiet hilarious together, too. I love how real she is. She seems like the kind of girl who could be everyone's best friend.

The Walking Dead
Totally my hubby's fault that I'm addicted to this show. It's the only one we sit down when it comes on and watch.
When we started dating I had never seen the show, I was afraid of everything remotely scary and zombies fell under that category
but I started watching it on Netflix with him and was hooked before long.

Dinner at Tiffani's
I grew up watching her as Kelly Capowski on Saved By The Bell and have loved her ever since.
When I saw she had her own cooking show coming on I was hooked. I love how she throws a dinner party with her friends pretty much all the time!

Jep & Jessica Growing the Dynasty
I've been a huge fan of the Robertsons since they came on the scene. I love the family values and morals they teach.
I truly believe that they live by them even now that they are famous.
It seems like it's hard to find shows on you can enjoy as a family but this is one of them.
I love seeing the Robertsons growing as a family.

Southern Charm
It's my guilty pleasure.
If you've never seen this show it's on Bravo and it follows a group of friends, (privileged) friends around South Carolina. Like every reality show, it's a train wreck but I love the Southern setting.

The Big Bang Theory

As you can see, my taste in shows is all over the place and for someone who said she doesn't watch a lot of t.v., there are quiet a few here. Ooops. But seriously, I usually catch up on all of them On Demand when I get the chance.

What are your favorite t.v. shows?
Which one is your guilty pleasure?
