10 Things {I Love About My Husband Being Off Work}

Hi Peachies! Y'all may have noticed my absence from my blog sweet blog lately. And Snapchat. And Instagram. I would apologize except I'm kinda not sorry because my husband was off work Friday & Monday so we spent an extra long weekend together and I enjoyed every minute of it. He hasn't done that since our wedding and honeymoon last September/October.

So in honor of his time off today's 10 is all about why I love my husband being off work.

But First! Here's the info on this fun link up with Karli Bell from September Farms.
Here's how it works:

1 | draft your 10 on Tuesday list. it can be a list about anything. you can explain your list. or you don't have to. it could be your grocery list. your cleaning list. or a list about your top 10 pet peeves. but a list, nonetheless. k? k.

2 | grab the super snazzy button below and insert the HTML code into the HTML section of your blog. this will automatically make that pretty picture a hyperlink so that everyone knows where you're linking up at!

10 Things {I Love About My Husband Being Off Work}

1. Sleep.
Oh how I sleep so much better with my husband snuggled up next to me.
Since he's up around 4 every morning, it's nice to enjoy those extra hours snuggled up together.

2. Coffee.
I've bragged about how much better coffee is when he makes it but usually I only get to enjoy it on the weekends.
This week I was spoiled with coffee made by him 4 days in a row! That was the best.

3. Driving.
As in, I didn't have to for four whole days!
Well, except when I went to the mall on my own yesterday.
Yes, as a matter of fact, I am spoiled.

4. Dates.
Day time dates to be exact.
I'm not one to turn down a date with my hubby at all but daytime dates are so much fun.
Maybe because they're a rare treat but we enjoyed lunch at our local Farmer's Table/Market Friday.
They've just expanded and added a cafe that serves the most amazing sandwiches ever.
We ate, talked and dreamed about what's to come in our lives and picked up some fresh, local produce, too!

5. Willow.
She enjoyed her daddy time so much! She napped with him & sat outside with him while he grilled out for us.
Basically anywhere he went, so did she and while I love her so much it was nice to have a little help in the daytime with her.

6. Dreaming.
We spent a lot of time sitting around together daydreaming about our future.
It's been a while since we've done that so it was really nice.

7. Cooking Out.
Sunday my love spent the day smoking ribs for us for dinner.
He made them Carolina style and they were mouth watering good.
Yesterday we spent the evening at my parent's house cooking out burgers and hotdogs.
Something we rarely get to do with them during the week because of work.

8. No Phone Calls.
I love my husband and am so thankful that he's a hard worker and has a pretty incredible job
but it was nice that he didn't have to answer phone calls about work for those 4 days.
We were able to really relax and enjoy time together.

9. Outside.
The weather was incredible-sunny & in the 80's so we spent a lot of time outside.
We laid in the hammock with Willow running around us, we sat on the back porch,
And we explored the woods and did a lot of walking. It was just an incredible weekend.

10. Food.
Umm, yeah, so if my Beachbody Coach is reading this part-I'm sorry.
We ate so much good food. We ate fancy sandwiches, Waffle House, ribs, burgers, & Chick fil A.
It was good but I'm needing veggies in my life now.

It was an amazing long weekend for us. I feel so refreshed, relaxed and reconnected. Even though we didn't go anywhere, it felt like a mini vacation. I didn't care about keeping the house spotless or even meal planning and grocery shopping. I just enjoyed time with my love, our kiddo and our puppy. We even spent quality time with both sets of parents and I couldn't be happier. Sometimes we just need time to "be" with the ones we love.

I encourage all of you to take time away. Step away from the chores and social media and just "be" with your loved ones.
You'll be thankful that you did.

Happy Tuesday.

  2. Yes to all of this! I love when my hubby takes of work randomly. Even if I'm still working. Because I work from home so we can still go on a day date for my lunch break and most of the other things you listed still apply.

    1. Day Dates are the best. I don't know why but I love them so much. I feel like we don't get to spend much quality time together during the week because we're always on the go so this was such a nice change.

  3. That sounds like an awesome weekend. I can't wait for a vacation without the kids my husband and I have planned in a couple months. It is great to reconnect.

    1. Thank You! It was an amazing weekend! It is so great to have a vacation and reconnect. Life gets busy and I feel like quality time together gets sacrificed so it's a nice change of pace when he gets to take time off and we have no plans.

  4. It sounds like you had a great weekend with your hubby being off work. I completely agree with #1. I love it when I have days off, as I often don't get to sleep in with my hubby, as I have to wake up at 4am for my commute to work. So, having days off I appreciate it when we can cuddle a bit longer in bed.

    1. Your commute sounds like my hubby's so it's nice when he's off work and can stay in bed with me. I haven't slept that good since our last vacation. Life just slows down when we have time off and it's so nice to spend quality time together and reconnect.

  5. I am totally with you on how nice it is to have your hubby home! John works Monday-Saturday 11pm to 8/9am so when he gets home, he sleeps until about 3/4pm so we don't really get too much time together until Saturday night and Sunday day. I cherish those moments and try to void out all social media! I am so glad you have such a good time with him!

    1. Oh my! I'm glad Alex doesn't work night shift. Both of my parents have/do and I know how hard it is to spend time together but my mom has always said that's what made their marriage work. They treasure the time they do get to spend together that much more. And they've been happily married for 35 years.

  6. I love the idea of these 10 on a Tuesday posts! I'll definitely be participating. I love when my husband is off work too, so I can totally relate. The summer is his off-season which is really nice. We do a lot of traveling and fun stuff during his time off, so I always really look forward to summer.

  7. So glad that you got some extra days with your husband! Seems like it was a blast.. I love snuggling, dates, dreaming .. well everything :D With the constant social media craze, it can be so difficult to just turn off and focus on actual relationships! But we have to remember what's important in reality than virtually :) Have a great week!

    1. Thank You! You are so right! It is hard to disconnect sometimes and focus on what's important. It took me 32 years to find my forever guy. We've only been married 7 months but we stay so busy that sometimes I feel like we aren't spending quality time together. We both needed this time to refresh and reconnect.

    1. Thank You so much! We did have a great time and it was just nice to be able to enjoy being with each other. We weren't running 10 places and answering 100 phone calls. We just enjoyed being together. I'm pretty lucky because he cooks for me often and if he's not cooking for me he's cooking with me. Spending time in the kitchen together is my favorite. I got lucky with this one!
