Life Lately

Hi Loves! Happy Thursday. I can't believe that this week is so close to being done. Bring on the weekend! I'm so ready for snuggles and lots of down time. Oh! And getting to see my sweet baby nephew, Luke along with my brother and sister in law. It's not been a bad week by any means but last week my hubby took the entire week off for our first anniversary and I definitely got used to that. I've been wishing he was home with me every day this week. To cure my blues I took myself to Target the other day because we needed toilet paper and everyone knows that Target is the place for all your essentials and to cure yourself of the blues. It worked.

I ended up making a sweet little {in-expensive} gift basket for my sweet friend and neighbor who was having an icky day herself. That cheered me up more than buying anything for myself because anyone who knows me knows that my love language is giving gift baskets. I love buying a basket and filling it to the brim with goodies and delivering them to someone who needs a little cheer in their day. More on that in a few minutes.

Let's get back to our anniversary week. Our first anniversary was on a Monday and my super sweet hubby surprised me by taking the entire week off work. That's something he never gets to do, in fact, he hasn't since our wedding and honeymoon last year so it was a sweet surprise. He made plans to take me to dinner somewhere I'd never been before, The Melting Pot. It was a cozy, romantic fondue restaurant where he planned the works for us. We had an amazing 4 course meal, champagne and he even got me roses! It was definitely my favorite date in the history of dates. Our kiddo spent the night away that night so we could come home and have the house to ourselves. When we came home we did the traditional eating of the wedding cake a year later thing and laughed hysterically at each other's reactions. Maybe it's not all cakes in general but our pina colada cake did not hold up well after a year in the freezer. {Note to future brides-don't do anything to eclectic to the top layer of your wedding cake if you are going to go by traditions.}

The rest of the week was spent just hanging out at home together and enjoying some down time. We did go to our 5 acres one day and spent the day out there. My hubby even made me a beautiful new wreath for our front door from some of the vines that were growing on the property. We also explored our barn some more and found the coolest old ladder that I can't wait to take out of there and do something fun with once we build our new house. It was a fun, relaxing day in the woods and it was super quiet which made me even more excited to move out there.

I realize that we are probably the most boring 30 something year olds ever but we were quiet happy spending our week doing nothing but just enjoying being together. It was a nice change of pace from our usual everyday. I did squeeze in some blog posts last week. I was actually more prepared for that than I ever have been before. I think my hubby needs to take more time off so I can get more blog work done.

This week it's just been me trying to get back to the daily grind of life. I've had to run a couple errands but nothing big. I just can't get back into the groove of things. Mostly i've been enjoying this fall weather with my windows open and candles lit while I binge watch tv, catch up on laundry, and cook pretty amazing meals-if I do say so myself {I do}. I did mention that I made my neighbor a sweet little cheer up basket.

Want to see that?

So cute, right?

I'll also leave you with some pics from last week.
