Blogger Inspiration Q&A

Inspiration is something we all need help with sometimes as bloggers. I know I do and one of the ways I find inspiration is through reading other's posts and hearing the process behind creating content and how they over come those creative blocks, that's why I am answering some questions about being a blogger and how I find my inspiration. There are also a few questions thrown in there for fun, too so grab a cup of tea or coffee and get cozy while I talk about my creative process, all things social media and my favorite songs.

What's your biggest inspiration for creating new content?

I usually write whatever is on my heart and whatever aligns with my why for creating this blog to begin with. When it comes to products, I am inspired to share products that I truly use and believe in. Sometimes it does mean trying a new product, especially if a company reaches out to me. I'll try them but if it's not I product I would buy or use then I won't share it here.

What are your top 3 songs at the moment?

You Get My Love-Pink
I Am Here-Pink
Sit Still, Look Pretty-Daya

What's your one favorite blogging tool/plug in/app/website?

I honestly can't say that I have one right now. I have just signed up with Share a Sale affiliates and am so excited to work with them.

How do you get through creative blocks?

I'm a big believer in shutting out all distractions including the t.v. and all other social media and setting a timer for 10 minutes. During those 10 minutes I just sit and write, once the timer goes off I usually find that I am so into what i'm focused on that I don't want to stop. If i'm still not feeling inspired or motivated I turn up the music and dance-usually to rap; Biggie, Eminem, Tupac, or Ice Cube.

I also have found that keeping a list of post ideas helps. When i'm feeling un-inspired I can go to my list and grab an idea to write about. I've also recently started using a content of calendar (more about that in another post).

What's your favorite thing to do in your free time, when you aren't working?

I usually takes weekends off and my husband and I take Saturdays to go to lunch and go bargain hunting. It's seriously one of my favorites ways to spend my free time lately. We've found everything from books to boots to make up and clothes and even home decor out on our lunch dates/bargain hunts.

I also love to create mugs, shirts and vinyl decals, plan in my planner, entertain family and friends in our home.

What's your #1 tip for anyone wanting to start a blog?

Don't rush it. You cant build a blog over night; it's not something you can dream up and have ready to launch in a day so be prepared to put a lot of time and attention into it.

If you could meet one inspiring lady boss, who would it be and why?

This is a hard choice because there are so many. As far as celebrities go; Reese Witherspoon because, not only is she a southern belle, like me, she also stands up for what's important. She's paving the way for women everywhere. She's someone I honestly feel like I could learn a lot from.

In the blogging world it would have to be Helene from Helene In Between because she seems like such a fun, outgoing person but she also handles her business like a boss. She's definitely someone I can and do learn from all the time because, hello! Her webinars are always loaded with information.

What does a day in your life like?

I usually wake up sometime around 6:15 as my husband is leaving for work. I get a quick hug and kiss then he's out the door. I lay in bed for another 10 minutes and pray then I get up and go into the kitchen to make my coffee then I sit down in the darkness of the morning and drink my coffee and read my daily devotional. I take a shower, get ready, take my son to school, run errands, come home, clean the kitchen, start a load of laundry then I get cozy in my office and I work on blog things. I write posts, I return e-mails, participate in the threads in my groups, Pin to Pinterest. Then I go pick my son up from school, we visit with my parents, come home, cook dinner, clean up, and I snuggle on the couch with my husband and our cat and dog and watch t.v.

My life is pretty un-eventful most of the time and i'm okay with that.

What's one big goal you've set this year?

Say yes to more events. This is a big one for me because last year I would say yes to events that I really wanted to go to but when it came time to go I would back out because I let my anxiety get the best of me. I'm still upset that I allowed myself to miss out on an amazing Sephora event and several blogger meet ups and a blogger mixer.

What are 3 posts that readers should read to get to know you better?

Do you have a self care routine or a favorite pampering product that helps you relax and un-wind?

I don't have a self care routine but I do love lighting a candle, putting on one of my favorite podcasts or some music and taking a bath with a bath bomb and a face mask. I also believe that self care goes beyond just pampering ourselves so I'm learning how to check in with myself and ask myself How Am I Really? Answering that question honestly can be so hard but so freeing at the same time. I also love to write in my 52 Lists for Happiness book and in my Lipstick Gospel Prayer Journal + Devotional.

What's the last photo you took? (Share it if you'd like)

It was of all my favorite lip products for battling the hard winter elements. I would share the photo but they're for an up-coming post next month so stay tuned to see what they are.

What makes you happy right now?

The sun shining through my window, spring coming, continuing to decorate our new home, endless snuggles with my husband, taking my blog to the next level.

What projects have you been working on?

Well, I just did an amazing collaboration with Sugar Palm Beauty. That was really fun and one of my biggest posts to date. I have more collaborations coming soon, including one with a teeth whitening company coming next month that I ams so excited about.

What is your favorite social media platform? Why?

Instagram even with it's crazy algorithim changes all the time. I feel like most of my reach comes form Instagram, still. I love it because you can use it to your advantage in so many ways with InstaStories and the option to now ceate a highlights reel. Also, the options for story telling and microblogging with a picture really excites me.

  1. Thanks for sharing so much of your heart here! I love your idea of asking yourself how you REALLY are as part of self-care. It's so important to acknowledge feelings, good or bad!

    1. Hi Sara. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. I am so glad you enjoyed this post. Checking in with yourself and asking how you really are is so important. It is important to acknowledge all the feelings we have and to deal with them in a healthy way instead of just pushing them to the side.

  2. IG is still my favorite too! I can live without the rest but there is something about IG that I love. I love your goal of saying yes! I will have to consider that more in my life too. Especially with a little one, it is so easy to make excuses/say no! I hope you are having a great start to your week

    1. Hi Doll! Thank you for stopping by and leaving some love. Insta will always be my favorite social media platform. If I could only keep one, that would be it! I love seeing pics for your sweet boy on there!

Saying yes more is something that I totally want and need to do more of because I let my anxiety get the best of me. There's an event this Friday that i've been invited to and I'm scared to go to so i'm wrestling with that now. Having a little one does add an extra layer of reason (good reason) to say no to things. Since we're trying to have a baby I often think of that, too.

I hope you are having a great week, too!
