In Case You Didn't Know...

Hi Loves! Happy Day. Today's post is a fun way to get to know me a little better so I hope y'all enjoy.

-I'm only 5' tall but despise wearing high heels. I'm comfortable with my height; that's something that took me many years to overcome but being short really has it's advantages. I know my husband thinks it's cute when I pull my stool out to reach my favorite mug on the top shelf in the mornings. Finding cute clothes can be challenging but it's perfection when you find that one thing that really makes your tiny self look good and reaching things up high in stores can be challenging but it's almost always a guarantee that someone is willing to go the extra mile (or foot) to help you out.

- I just got my hair colored red wth blonde highlights but it turned out with a purple tone with some pink highlights in it and I am obsessed.
It's so far out of my comfort zone but it makes me feel a little extra sassy and bold and I am loving it.

-I have a hard time balancing everything so i've been on a mission to just let go and let God lead me where He sees fit. I'm also on a mission to embrace the imperfect mess I am. Perfection is a lie. So is balance. Just take it one day at a time and enjoy the ride.

-I can't concentrate on two things at once but total silence drives me insane. I must always have a podcast, music or the tv on if i'm home alone. I used to relish the quietness, now it drives me crazy.

-I could eat croissants every. single. day. of my life. I'm also obsessed with brunch but rarely get to enjoy it. If I could only have one meal a day it would be a huge brunch complete with mimosas.

-I'm a homebody to the extreme and actually get anxious if I'm out alone sometimes. Nothing really triggers it, it just happens sometimes. I've actually walked out of Target before without buying anything because of it. This is a huge deal because it's something that i've only recently opened up about. I had told my husband before but no one else knew, not even my mom and I tell her everything. It's not that I was embarrassed or ashamed by it, maybe confused but it's just not something that I ever shared.

-The ocean is my favorite place in the world. Not just the beach but the actual ocean. There is something so humbling but so soul inspiring about being in this giant body of water, surrounded by endless skies that just makes you feel so small and yet, humble. The ocean is where I feel most alive and inspired. It makes me realize that I am one tiny person in this giant world but that God put me here for a reason. I am one tiny person but I can make a difference. The ocean is my therapy.

-My perfect day would involve brunch at my favorite local cafe and a trip to Trader Joes for fresh produce and flowers with my husband, of course.

-I wouldn't trade my years of being a single mom for anything (except maybe more time being married to my husband). That's a tough call. He and I were best friends for 13 years before we dated; those were all through my years as a single mom. I would love to say we've been married for most of those years but we weren't and I truly believe it's because we both had to go through things that made us better for each other. Anyway, being a single mom taught me so much about myself and really made my son and I have this crazy, un-shakable bond. Now that he's older and has female friends, I see the way he treats girls and it melts me. He and I share jokes and really hard heart to hearts sometimes. He tells me things about his friends, things that they trust him with, and it means the world knowing he knows he can share those things with me. He's also really protective of me and always had my back which makes me really proud.

-Speaking of my husband, sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky with that one. He's the anchor that keeps me grounded and the first one I can let go and be completely silly with. He's honestly my better half. He makes sure that our kid and I want for nothing and never fails to wrap me in his arms and let me leave mascara stains on his tee shirt when I'm having one of those days. He also knows when to be prepared with coffee or chocolates; whichever the moment calls for. Our impromtu dances in the kitchen will always be my favorites.

-I love. love. LOVE. finding new up and coming artists to listen to. I have a new playlist that is loaded with this kind of music. Adding to it always makes my heart happy.

-I consider myself a creative but I have to be in the mood to create whatever it is. Once i'm in the mood though, there's no stopping me. I can go for hours.

-My happy place is this quiet little market/cafe that opened up in our hometown in 2013. She's forever expanding and it always makes my heart happy when she does. You can have everything from breakfast sandwiches to breakfast tacos to sandwiches and wraps, coffee, tea, sno cones and smoothies in the cafe. Then you can shop fresh, locally grown produce and meats and cheeses. There are also vintagey sodas and candies in her market and locally made goodies, too. Today I stopped in for a breakfast sandwich and honey ginger green tea and I grabbed some locally grown (made? produced?) sausage for tonight's dinner. I saw that she's even starting to sell tiny pumpkins already and it made my fall lovin' heart extremely happy.

    1. Hi Sweet Friend! OMG! Thank you so much for your sweet comment. You always make my day. Us short girls know how it is but I embrace it and love it.

The Farmer's Table is my favorite place ever. It's my happy place and they're always playing Christian music, too. You would absoluetly love it. It's where I got that Georgia peach sauce I remember you commenting on, somewhere. I'd be happy to send you some! You can see a picture of the cafe on today's Instagram!

I'm so glad you enjoyed this! I hope you are having a lovely day!

    1. Megan, I do too. My ideal day always includes the beach but we're 6 hours away from the closest beach here. The beach is my happy place, too though. My hubby & I got married on the beach.

  4. Loved getting to know more about you! I am 5'2 so I feel you on the whole short thing! I used to have blonde and red high lights in my hair! I bet it looks awesome on you!!! I actually don't mind when it's really quite. I actually enjoy it a lot. I think that's because M-F I am always on the phone, so I never really get quite time much.

That's awesome that you and your son are so close. Of course any son would be protective of his mom. :) I too also love brunch and mimosas!

    1. Thanks sweet friend! Short girls rock! I bet your hair looked so good with the red and blonde highlights. I'm loving mine. Sometimes the quietness is nice but usually I need a little noise but if I were on the phone that much I would probably cherish it even more!

My son is so protective of me. Usually he's all care free and silly but when it comes to protecting me, he's on it! Brunch and mimosas are the best, right?

    1. Thank You, Taylor! Being a single mom didn't seem hard, really. I had an awesome support system in my parents, brothers and other friends and family. I just did what I had to do and never really thought about all the challenges. I definitely have an amazing husband now and my son and I are definitely closer and stronger.
