My OCD Habits

Hi Peachies! Are y'all ready to hear some of my deepest secrets. The things I obsess over. Things that drive me crazy and sometimes even make me turn my car around and go home to check on that "thing"?

Are you ready to hear all about
My OCD Habits

I'm more than a little OCD about some things. There are things that flat out drive me insane if they aren't done and then there are some things that I'm ODC about simply because I've been forgetful about them too often in the past.

Let Me Explain

+ My counters have to be wiped down. I wipe them down several times a day with Clorox Wipes and just a wet wash rag.
I can't stand to have dirty/sticky counter tops.

+ My curling iron/flat iron being unplugged. This is one I've forgotten about a few too many times.
I've even turned the car around to check.
Now I'll check it two or three times before I leave just to be sure.

+ My clothes have to be organized in my closet by type and in a particular order. From back to front it's jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts, long sleeve shirts, 3/4 sleeved shirts, tee shirts, tanks, dresses, capris, jeans. And each of those has to be organized by favorites. Favorites are closest to the front.

+ My shoes have to be matched up and lined up in my closet, too.

+ I like balance when it comes to decorating. If I have something on the right side of the shelf, there has to be something similar on the left side, too.

+ When I'm locking up my house I have to check, at least twice, to make sure I really did lock the door. Sometimes I have to run back in and make sure I locked the back door, too.

+ Sometimes I count my steps in my head (Yes, I even have a fit bit).

+ If I can't sleep I add all the numbers of the time together & keep adding them until I come to a single digit.
(You really get to sleep fast this way). Sometimes I even add all the numbers on someone's mail box until I find that one digit.

+ At each store I visit often, I have a certain pattern I walk and shop.

I don't think my OCD habits are too out there, except maybe the one about all my clothes in my closet. That one might be borderline insanity but I love organization to the extreme and that's the only space I truly can control. No one else adds chaos and clutter to my closet so it's my little piece of organized Heaven.

What are some of your OCD Habits? Do we share any of the same ones?

  1. I have a similar thing like you have with your hair straightener. I have to check and recheck the stove and oven knobs to make sure they are off before going to bed. Some of the times I even touch each knob as I am checking.. like that changes anything ha! I also do this with the locks on our doors.

    1. I do that, too! I forgot that one! I'm OCD about my stove, too though. I'm glad i'm not alone.

  2. I do the same thing with counters (I can't stand them not to be super shiny clean!) and also with my closet organization, i.e. pants together, by color, etc. - Trish

    1. Chelsea, I agree! Sometimes it is annoying. Other times I don't even think about it! Glad we're alike in that respect!

    1. Sami, maybe i'm not as strange as I thought. Surprisingly i'm not that way about my laptop. It gets left on a lot.

  5. Haha I feel you! I once couldn't remember if I had unplugged my curling iron before and audition and was SO PARANOID the entire time (several hours, mind you) that my apartment was going to be burnt down when the audition was over. Needless to say, that was not my best audition. I even had a friend drive by my place after she got cut from the audition to check on it for me. It was unplugged....

    1. Aww, Lauren! Bless your heart! That would be awful to have an audition and not be able to concentrate on it! I've definitely been in similar situations though. We tend to let our minds go out wandering and worrying about things there's no use in worrying about.

  6. Oh my gosh we are so similar. I probably check my flat iron like 6 times after I unplug it

    1. Neely, I'm so glad I'm not alone in this. Almost everyone else has said the same thing. That's probably the one thing i'm the worst at remembering if I did. I usually do out of habit though.

  7. I also have OCD. It used to be worse when I was younger, but I've got it mostly uber control now. Like you, I also check the locks a few times and have a ritual I do before flying on a plane. I mean, it could be worse...at least we check to make sure things are taken care of! Lol

    1. Kelly, exactly! Honestly I didn't have any rituals about getting on a plane. I flew to Hawaii on my honeymoon last September and I hadn't flown in 15 years so I had no idea what to expect. I guess thats why I didn't get worked up over it!

    1. Thank You, Sarah! I was ready to re-vamp my blog. I'm still working on some things but over all, I'm happy with the new design.

I can go overboard with the counters but I think I got that one from my mom. She can't stand sticky counter tops. Organizing my closet is something that I don't ever remember starting but clearly it's in my blood. Hahah!

We are like long lost twins! I have a feeling if we lived together we'd have the cleanest house ever!

  10. I wish I had a little more OCD when it came to my closet and shoes because they are a disorganized mess right now. I do have to check my door locks, and straightener too.

    1. I can't stand for mine to be a mess. That's just one of my things. I don't even remember starting this but it's definitely something that I have to do. I feel like everything is a mess if my closet is a mess!

  11. Yes to wiping down the counters! I can't stand sticky/dirty counters. It drives me insane! The whole straighter thing as well! I also check my doors to make sure they are locked a million times before I walk out the house. Also if I use the iron, I do a million checks to make sure I turned it off. We all have our own OCD tendencies!
