January Intentional Goals

Hello there. If you were here yesterday you read my post on setting intentional goals. I'm a little late sharing January's goals but I had to put some thought into them because I wanted to make them truly intentional. Sure, I have my crazy long list of goals for the year but I wanted to make my monthly goals more focused and intentional. I feel like that's the true way to actually achieve anything, through baby steps and being 100% honest and realistic.

Is my goal of reading 12 books this year un-attainable? Absolutely not but it is realistic to expect that I can read all of them in one month? Yes! That's why i'm breaking down the big goals into smaller ones. Dreaming big doesn't mean everything has to be done at once.

So cozy up as we talk about January's goals and my why for each one.

January Intentional Goals

//Personal//

Finish reading Emily Ley's Grace Not Perfection

Why: because I feel like this book is going to hold the secrets of life. It's going to help me focus on what really matters and keep those things close to my heart and in my mind. I've been practicing letting go of perfection since I chose it as my word of the year last year but it's something I still struggle with and maybe always will but if I can learn anything on letting go of it then i'm all in.

Work out two days a week

Why: I'm starting with grace here and not setting the bar crazy high like working out 6 days a week. I've done that before and it works for a while then I slack off and it's all down hill. Obviously I want to work myself up to working out 6 days a week but baby steps for now.

Try one new recipe a week and share about it

Why: I love cooking at home and we've been eating out way too much. I feel like a train wreck from not eating right lately but I also get burned out on the same food so trying some new ones is always a fun way to add a little spice to dinner. I also want to incorporate healthier options in to our diet. Stay tuned to see how that goes with my meat and potatoes guys.

Find ways to connect with my husband at the end of each day

Why: Don't get me wrong, our marriage is great but i'm a little tired of sitting in front of the t.v. every night, mindlessly watching a show with our faces buried in our iPads. There's nothing romantic about that. I want to find new and fun ways to connect.

//Social Media//

Grow Instagram to 820 followers

Why: Instagram is my main social media platform but i've been stuck between 800-806 followers for months now. I want to reach 1,000 by the end of the year but the algorithim changes keep messing me up but I won't let them beat me. I want that end number.

Post in my goals group twice a week

Why: because we're creating an amazing group of women with all kinds of jobs and careers who support each other and grow through setting goals. It's so much more than a community, it's my tribe and I want to help them succeed and to see them thriving.

//Blog//

Collaborate with one company

Why: because the focus of my blog this year is to hustle, grow and thrive by creating relationships with companies and brands that I believe in and want to share with my readers.

Create and write content at least a week in advance

Why: I feel like the creating part is the part I loose myself in. I definitely enjoy it but I don't enjoy trying to write a post the night before it is supposed to go live. That's how i've burned myself out in the past and I definitely don't want to do that again. I also only want to post three times a week instead of 5 because I truly believe that it is quality over quantity. Plus, posting every other day gives me time to focus on sharing my content and being present in all my groups and also, commenting on other's blogs.

  1. These are fabulous goals! I think writing blog content up in advance is a huge help. You never know when something will come up or you'll get sick, so having posts already scheduled can keep things flowing. I also love that you're going to try cooking a new dish each week and post about it. So many of us could do with expanding our repertoire and eating more home-cooked meals.

    1. Hi Kyla. Thank you so much. I truly love setting intentional goals. Writing content in advance is a huge help. I've also recently discovered that having a content calendar is pretty amazing and so helpful, too. I'm all about anything that helps me keep my content to keep flowing. You should definitely try cooking an ew dish each week, even if it turns out horrible then at least you tried something new. I'll be doing a round up of all the recipes I try at the end of each month so look for that coming soon!

  2. You go, girl! I really admire the fact that these goals are all intentional - it's a good thing to practice. I'm trying to get back in to working out, too and I love finding new recipes to try. The fact that you're looking to find ways to connect with hubby warms my heart. <3 I'm rooting for you, girl! I know you can accomplish all of these, little by little.

    P.S. The button in your blog's sidebar that links to your Instagram and Twitter don't work (they link to goergiapeachy31). Hopefully that helps to get your followers up a little. ;) xxx

    1. Hi Sweet Friend! Thank you so much. Aren't intentional goals the best? It really is a good thing to practice. Getting back in the hang of working out is hard but it's worth it once you get started! I love finding new recipes to try, too so look for lots of those coming soon. I'll br rounding up the ones we tried at the end of each month. You can also see snippets in my IG Stories. Finding ways to connect with my hubby (besides t.v.) is something important to me. It's cold here so we don't feel like getting out much like we do in the warmer months but i'm sure we'll find some fun things to do!

      Thank you for letting me know about my buttons. That was the link before I changed everything over. I guess I over looked changing those somehow. I'll fix them! Thanks doll!

    1. Hi Love! I'm doing great! How are you? I feel you with Insta lately. It's a bit ridiculous. I'm the same way. I think my highest likes have been in the 30s for one post but I have noticed growth since I changed over to a business account. I think because there are more features and I have a collab going on right now, too that i'm showing in my stories. We'll work through it! IG is definitely a struggle but it's still my favorite platform. I'm learning more about Pinterest, too.

  4. Those are great goals! I often set the bar too high too and it's important to set small, attainable goals. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi Samantha. Thank you for stopping by. Setting goals too high is tough. I know it's something you really want to achieve but you'll burn yourself out before you get there if you set them too high. Start with those high goals though and break them down, each month, into more attainable goals and you'll get there! If you want to join my goals group just let me know. I'd love to cheer you on and help you out!

    1. Hi Whitney. Thank you for stopping by and leaving a comment. Emily Ley is amazing, isn't she? Did you get to see her when she was in your city? She was just here in Georgia Thursday but I didn't get to see her. I'm bummed but it was a little far off for me.

      Trying out new recipes is fun if you like to cook. Sometimes they don't turn out good but that's okay because at least you tried something new! I'll be doing a recipe round up at the end of this month so stay tuned for that.

  6. I think these are great and practical goals. I applaud you for using "baby steps" toward achieving them (like your working out 2 days a week), rather than expecting too much too soon. Makes me want to re-evaluate my own list of goals! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi! Thank you for coming back to visit again. I love it when I have repeat visitors. Thank you for your comment, as well. I think some people can set big goals and stick to them until they're complete. I am not one of those people. I get frustrated and overwhelmed then end up burning out before I reach that goal. That's why I take baby steps. If your goals are too big, simply break them down into smaller, more attainable goals and give yourself a deadline to work through them to reach the big goal! I know you'll conquer all your goals though so best wishes!
